Renewal, Reciprocity & Continuing Education
About 5 of every 50 questions on a Arkansas state exam practice exam come from this topic.
What to know
Licenses renew annually or biennially by December 31. Continuing education is 6 hours a year or 12 hours per two-year cycle. You can carry over up to 3 hours (annual) or 6 hours (biennial). CE is waived for the first year of licensure. Licensees who have held a license 20 years and are 65 or older are exempt. Lecturers can claim at most 2 hours a year. CE sponsors apply 60 days before the course and file attendance within 30 days after. Delinquent fees accrue per 3-month period, up to 12 months. Reinstatement opens at 13 months delinquent, and a license lapsed 3 or more years requires a Board appearance. Out-of-state applicants need 1 year in good standing and receive a 1-year temporary working number. Service members get a 180-day extension after deployment.
