Funeral Establishments (Types A & B)
About 5 of every 50 questions on a Arkansas state exam practice exam come from this topic.
What to know
Know the four establishment types: A (full-service), B (mortuary service), C (crematory), and D (transport). A Type A needs $1,000,000 in general liability insurance, a full-time funeral director licensed at least 5 years, and a manager who lives within 50 miles of each location. Report a manager departure within 3 business days and the successor within 15 business days. Applications are due 20 business days before a Board meeting, and a sale requires 30 days' notice. On closure or revocation, return the license within 7 days. Display at least 3 adult caskets. The embalmer must be available within 6 hours. Inspectors must be admitted within 1 hour. A Type B serves only as an agent of a Type A.
