Apprenticeship
About 5 of every 50 questions on a Arkansas state exam practice exam come from this topic.
What to know
Funeral director apprentices serve 18 months (12 months for mortuary-school graduates) and assist with 50 services. Embalmer apprentices serve 12 months, assist with 50 bodies, and must enroll in mortuary school within one year. Case reports are signed by the apprentice and the supervisor and are due by the 10th of the following month. A mentor must have been licensed at least 3 years and give direct personal supervision, meaning they are on the premises whenever the apprentice works. Registration lasts 3 years with one 3-year re-registration. After 6 years there is a 90-day wait. An apprentice who hasn't passed the Arkansas Laws exam after 10 or more years must restart.
