Questions
What is the NBE?
The National Board Examination is the national funeral service licensing exam given by The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. It has two sections, Arts and Sciences, and most states require one or both for funeral director or embalmer licensure.
How is the real NBE Sciences section set up?
Each NBE section has 170 multiple-choice questions (150 scored and 20 unscored pretest items) with 170 minutes to finish. A scaled score of 75 passes, and each section costs $285. A failed section can be retaken after 30 days.
How does this practice exam compare?
It has 150 questions in 150 minutes, weighted to The Conference's 2023 content outline, the same way the scored part of the real exam is. You get a pass/fail result at 75%, your score in each domain, a study recap, and an explanation for every miss.
Are these real NBE questions?
No. Every question is original. Nothing comes from the real exam, from "recalled" questions, or from any textbook. Questions are written to the published content outline and reviewed for accuracy.
Will two practice exams be the same?
Unlikely. Each exam is drawn at random from the full bank in the outline's proportions, and the answer choices are shuffled. If you check out with the same email, your next exam favors questions you haven't seen.
How much does it cost?
One NBE Sciences practice exam is $15, or $35 for a pack of 3. If you don't pass the real exam after practicing here, your next pack is free.
Is this affiliated with The Conference?
No. This is an independent study aid. The Conference sells its own official practice exams.
An independent study aid, not affiliated with or endorsed by The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. Questions are original and written to the published content outline.
