Licensing Requirements
About 5 of every 50 questions on a Arkansas state exam practice exam come from this topic.
What to know
Know the separate requirements for the embalmer license (age 18, high school, graduation from an ABFSE-accredited mortuary school, apprenticeship, both parts of the National Board Exam plus the Arkansas Laws exam) and the funeral director license (age 18, high school, apprenticeship, Arkansas Laws exam). The passing score is 75%. Funeral directors may retest every 15 days and embalmers every 30 days. Applicants need an Arkansas State Police background check, and The Conference administers the exam. A funeral-director-only licensee may not embalm. Also review the 2021 Acts on fee waivers (Part 32) and licensure for work-permit holders (Part 31).
